High School Internships

At Internship Connection, our experienced counselors develop a personal relationship with each college-bound student and their family.

“My son’s summer internship provided him an incredible opportunity to experience the environment of a successful startup company, to work on real life projects that tested his resourcefulness and creativity, and most importantly, allowed him to work closely with phenomenal people who treated him as one of them. This experience gave David the confidence to seriously explore and consider engineering and technology as a potential field of study in college and as a possible career choice. A huge thank you to Dr. Jabbawy for finding us this internship.”

We understand that the years in high school leading up to college can be a very stressful time for students and families. Turning to a professional de-stresses the process of finding an internship for both parent and student. Many of our students come to us for high school internships followed by college internships. Through personal experience, they have learned the value of early and successive internships.

Internship Connection counselors are mature professionals who either have Master’s Degrees in counseling/education or extensive career experience and contacts in a wide variety of fields. In addition, workplace mentors appreciate our structured program and continually seek out our interns.

A high school internship is extremely valuable for:

  • Building Confidence and Life Skills necessary for the workplace
  • Gaining exposure to a potential college major
  • Beginning the process of building a resume and professional contacts
  • Illustrating true interest in an academic area on a college application

Our process is grounded in Academics:

  • Colleges are interested a student who is well rounded but who also has a special academic interest or talent that they have pursued in-depth.
  • Often students have no idea about their career interest, but by reviewing the student’s courses and extra-curricular activities, we help them identify a “thread of interest” that can be developed further through an internship.
  • Then we research and contact potential mentors and establish an internship that will enhance the student’s learning experience and academic resume.

We guide students through each step of the program:

  • Each student receives program materials related to: creating a resume, prepping for a workplace interview, asking for a letter of recommendation.
  • We provide guidance as students are working by responding to Internship Connection Journals. Journals have been designed with specific questions that are meant to foster reflection.
  • Counselors provide feedback on journals, maintain contact with workplace mentors and when appropriate, make site visits.
